WELCOME to the CCSU DEPARTMENT OF ART
In the Department of Art, academic experiences are intended to broaden
individual talent and artistic abilities; stimulate creative processes; develop
skills needed to accomplish career objectives as practicing art professionals or
art educators; and afford opportunities to work with dynamic, energetic faculty
members who are also active, exhibiting artists.
The Department of Art
faculty combines a commitment to teaching with a dynamic program of professional
activities in the local area, throughout the state of Connecticut, in other
regions of the U.S., and abroad. Professional participation includes solo and
group exhibitions, conference presentations, and grant receipt and operation, as
well as consulting.
The Art Department offers two undergraduate degree programs, a B.S. in Art
Education for students who wish to pursue a career in teaching art, and a B.A.
in Art which provides student with options in studio areas, such as painting,
ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, graphic design, and illustration as well as
Art History. Study options also exist in New Media Arts, Mural Painting, and
other new genres. The Department of Art offers two graduate programs of study: a Master of
Science in Art Education degree and a Post-Baccalaureate Teaching Certification
program.
